| Mortgage Tip If you have a fixed rate mortgage, and your monthly payments include a portion for house taxes, and another portion for insurance, your payment might be reduced. Your insurance can decrease because of no claims against you, and the taxes can decrease because of lower property values in your neighborhood. Check your escrow account. If there is a reduction in the monthly payments, you can ask your lender to assign the difference to the principal each month. Alternatively, you can ask the lender to reduce your monthly mortgage payments. |
